When I first got started

 

 

Back in 2014, I hit my heaviest weight. I was constantly drained and knew I wasn't living as my best self.

Then one day, a friend shared something on Facebook that immediately sparked my interest.

Driven by curiosity and a newfound determination, I ordered the book, dove into it, and started my journey with the Trim Healthy Mama Program.

 

 

 

Shortly after starting the program, I had a doctor’s appointment where I received life-changing news—I was diagnosed with diabetes.

It finally explained why I had been feeling so exhausted and unwell.

The doctor handed me a standard diabetic diet plan, but after reviewing it, I threw it in the trash—

it had far too many carbs for me to manage effectively.

 

 

Sticking with Progress: My Journey with the THM program

       Staying committed to the THM program has been meaningful

       experience, even if it hasn’t always been perfect. Like any journey

toward self-improvement, there were moments of challenge and times when I stumbled.

However, I remained dedicated to the process because I understood that progress,

not perfection, is what truly matters. Each step I took—even the imperfect ones—helped

me grow and reinforce the importance of consistency over perfection.

The THM program provided me with the tools and structure I needed, and though

I didn’t achieve perfection, the commitment to stay the course has made all the difference.

 

 

I thought I had made it. I was off my diabetic medication, but I still had a long way to go in my weight loss journey. Feeling confident, I let my guard down and allowed myself too many cheat moments. Before I realized it, I had completely fallen off the program and was back to unhealthy eating habits.

 

 

 

Over the years, I’ve experienced countless cycles of losing and regaining weight.

Let’s face it—life has a way of knocking us down sometimes.

I know the weight of stress all too well. My husband battled four different cancers over a 15-year period.

In 2020, he lost that battle. My world was shattered. The love of my life had gone home to be with the Lord, leaving me here to navigate life alone.

And how have I coped with life’s challenges? By turning to food for comfort.

 

 

Where does that bring me today?

 

 

I was still struggling with being overweight, low energy levels, and fasting blood sugar that was alarmingly high.

My body ached all over, with constant knee pain that made simple tasks like housework, grocery shopping, and enjoying the little things in life feel impossible.

Although I hadn’t regained all the weight, I’d previously lost, I knew I needed to shed the extra pounds—and then some—to truly feel like myself again.

 

 

 

On May 16, 2025, I woke up and headed into town to pick up a few groceries. But first, out of curiosity, I 

decided to check my blood sugar—something I had been neglecting to do 

regularly. 

When I saw the reading, my eyes nearly popped out of their sockets—it was 287. My youngest 

son, Daniel, and I had planned to restart THM the following Monday. But after seeing that 

number, I called Daniel and said, "I'm starting today." He agreed to join me, and that's 

where our journey began.

 

 

 

Today, my fasting glucose levels have improved significantly. Thank God, I’m truly grateful for this progress!

With the weight I had already shed and what I’ve lost recently, I’m now 50 pounds lighter.

I feel healthier, more energetic, and I can walk farther than ever before.

 

 

 

Yes, I'm only human—I love seeing the number on the scale drop. Who doesn’t?

But my health journey is about so much more than just a number. These days, I’m focused on improving my fasting glucose levels and nourishing my body with delicious, wholesome foods.

That’s not to say I don’t indulge in the occasional treat, but I’m mindful of how easily unhealthy habits can lead to a downward spiral.
