Busy here on Shumpert's Hill

Well, the weekend came and went, but with the upcoming week, it is shaping up to be quite busy. Friday was grocery day, and it’s always surprising how quickly $132 can disappear in just 10 minutes at the store. The fun doesn’t stop there—coming home to unpack everything and eventually cook it is all part of the process. But honestly, I can’t complain. I love to eat, so it’s worth the effort. Besides, I’m grateful to the good Lord above for the blessing of being able to do it.

I recently stocked up on four bags of spinach and two containers of salad mix to dehydrate, and I can’t wait to share the process with you in an upcoming video! One of my favorite ways to enjoy veggies is by dehydrating and powdering them to sneak a healthy boost into my meals. I’m so excited to get started on this and show you how simple and fun it can be!

My house is currently in complete disarray. We've been dealing with an issue where the air conditioner just won't turn off, and after some investigation, it turns out the ductwork needs to be replaced—what a headache! This means we have to move furniture away from the vents inside, just in case the technicians need access. Safe to say, it's going to feel like a madhouse around here for a while.

We've finally been getting some much-needed rain, accompanied by some incredibly powerful lightning storms. Unfortunately, this has made it difficult to get any outdoor work done. It's been several days since Daniel was able to harvest anything from the garden. We also need to prepare another pasture for the goats, as they've nearly eaten everything in their current fenced-in area.

Sadly, my favorite little goat, Oreo, who rarely ventured out, managed to escape and was tragically lost. Heartbreak is an inevitable part of farm life, and this was one of those difficult moments. Oreo was beautiful with her striking black and white coat, and she will forever be irreplaceable. However, some good news brightened our spirits—on Saturday, we welcomed a new goat, Nanna, who is expecting and could give birth any day now.
